2021 BMW 4 Series Price Canada – BMW Canada is the latest iteration of its sports coupe, the third generation BMW 4 Series since 2014, when it became a standalone model line. The design and engineering teams for the new BMW 4 Series Coupé wanted to provide the ultimate driving experience in a beautiful, low-hanging package that secures the position of the 4 Series at the top of its segment.

External design and improved aerodynamics

Compared to the 3 Series sedan, the new 4 series coupe (for comparison 330i and 430i) is 66 mm longer, 25 mm wider, 25 mm lower and with the same wheelbase 25 mm wider rear track.

Compared to the previous generation, the 4 Series coupe is 132 mm longer, 25 mm wider, 10 mm higher and 40 mm longer wheelbase and 35 mm longer at the front and 30 mm wider rear bands.

The distinctive front of the 4 Series is equipped with a new BMW heatsink mask that meets the greater cooling requirements of more powerful engines. The grille is tilted forward and extends to the bottom of the front bumper cover. The renal grid is framed by surfaces with a three-dimensional mesh. In the grid, the arrow-shaped bonnet lines are attached, while the air curtain inlets at the edges of the front bumper accentuate the width of series 4.

Standard LED headlights with corner lights are slimmer in design and narrow towards the kidney grid. The two elements of the U-shaped daytime running light are the most striking features. Rotary signals consist of three glass blade units at the corners of each front light assembly.

The profile of the new 4 Series Coupé shows the very clean, minimalist lines of the new model. The long hood, the narrowing greenhouse ending in the famous Hofmeister-kink and muscular fenders resemble the sports coupe of recent decades. Frameless windows give the door a lighter look and feel.

The width of the new 4 Coupé series is reinforced at the back by slim, dark L-shaped LED tail lights that extend back to quarter-quark. The vertical openings at the corners of the rear bumper mimic the front openings of the air breathing apparatus. Trapezoidal tailpipes are integrated into the lower cover of the rear bumper.

The standard M Sport package includes a uniquely styled front bumper with larger air intake holes and a redesigned rear bumper with Shadowline insert. The rear diffuser panel, the front suction strips, the side window strips and the lower covers of the exterior rear-view mirrors are finished in high gloss black. The choice of optional Shadowline packaging provides a high-gloss black grid surface and exhaust upholstery.

The exterior of the M440i xDrive Coupé is topped with a rear trunk spoiler and a black kidney cooler, a front air intake slope, exterior mirror covers and rear rail linings. Acoustic glass is now used for windscreens to reduce noise coming into the cab.

Interior

The premium driver-centred cockpit is at the heart of the new 4 Coupé series interior design. The newly designed front row of sports seats and leather sports steering wheels is standard. The upswept centre console creates an individual space for front-seat passengers. The M Sport and M440i xDrive Coupé offer an additional soft knee support on the sides of the centre console, as well as an M Sport steering wheel and door sills with the M logo.

The center screen is poured into the pooling system area to create the same drive. The light functions are controlled from the button bar to the left of the steering wheel. The Start/Stop button is now located in the centre console along with the newly designed gear selector lever, iDrive controller and Driving Experience Control buttons.

The rear seats with integrated head restraints are designed for two passengers and have a folding function of 40:20:40.

The interior of the new 4 Series Coupé is equipped with fully LED lighting for front and rear indoor and reading lights, glove compartment, storage box for central armrest, mirrors of the sun visor, trunk space and door lights. Optional indoor ambient lighting provides adjustable lighting for contour lines through devices and door panels, as well as lightweight carpet for ground lighting outside the door area. The lighting layout, brightness, and color scheme can be configured using the iDrive menu to suit the taste and mood of the driver.

Performance and performance

All models in the new 4 series have a performance and torque increase compared to the models they replace. The drive of the new 430i xDrive Coupé is an upgraded B46 2.0-liter 4-cylinder BMW TwinPower turbocharged engine delivering 255 hp @ 5,000 – 6,500 rpm (increase by 7 hp) and 294 ft-lbs. torque at 1,550 – 4,400 rpm (36 ft-lbs increase). The 430i xDrive Coupé accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 240 km/h (210 km/h when fitted with all-season tyres).

The new M440i xDrive Coupé is powered by the BMW TwinPower 5,800 – 6,500 rpm in-line six-cylinder six-cylinder engine (62 hp) and 369ft-lb. torque @ 1,800 – 5,000 rpm (increase by 39 ft.-lbs.). The M440i xDrive Coupé accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and can achieve an electronically limited speed of 240 km/h (210 km/h) when fitted with all-season tyres.

Both 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines use one, twin-scroll turbocharger, high precision fuel injection (operating at more than 5000 psi), VALVETRONIC fully variable timing valves and Double-VANOS variable camshaft timing.

The 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine in the M440i xDrive Coupé also benefits from weight-optimized pistons and connecting rods and from the exhaust pipe integrated into the cylinder head, allowing for better thermal efficiency from the integrated water cooling airways.

Propulsion systems and gearbox

The new BMW 430i xDrive Coupé comes standard with the latest BMW xDrive intelligent all-wheel drive system, which provides additional traction both in power management and in different weather conditions.

The BMW xDrive’s intelligent all-wheel drive system helps improve the driving characteristics of the car. The power is sent to the wheels by an electronically controlled multi-metal coupling in the transmission housing. The latest xDrive, located in the new 4 Series coupe, offers a fast, accurate and fully variable torque distribution between the front and rear wheels. In bicycle situations where there is no need for all-wheel drive, all power is directed to the rear wheels.

All 4 series models deliver their torque on the road via a standard 8-speed sports automatic transmission with start control. The M440i xDrive Coupé features a standard M Sport rear differential that helps improve traction by balancing the torque between the left and right rear wheel during acceleration. It also works in conjunction with the DSC stability management system to reduce unwanted failures.

The latest version of the BMW Sport express mix is equipped with a new optimized hydraulic control system for better responsiveness and efficiency. The new generation of torsional shock absorbers reduces the irregularity of rotation in the drivetrain and helps increase driving comfort and shifting smoothness. Integrated double shock systems for vibration isolation reduce the degree of slip on the torque converter lock.

Intelligent connectivity allows an eight-speed automatic transmission to adapt the route and driving strategy. In cooperation with the standard navigation system, 8-stage transmission of Steptronic data from this system and from the optional radar sensor of the Active Cruise Control system is used. This allows the gearbox to avoid unnecessary gear changes by moving down prematurely to use engine braking to remove speed and be in the right gear to accelerate from the bend.

New 48V mild hybrid system

The new 48-volt mild-hybrid is standard for the six-cylinder M440i xDrive Coupé . The 48-volt starter/generator unit is complemented by a separate 48-volt battery that enables recovery, storage and energy use while driving. The energy can be recuperated by deceleration, braking and excessive electricity produced when driving in Sport mode.

Excess energy is converted into electricity by a 48 volt starter/generator and stored in a 48-volt battery. This energy can be used by the starter/generator unit to increase power by up to 11 hp during hard acceleration or by providing power for electronic systems, thereby reducing engine load and improving overall efficiency.

The 48-volt starter generator also increases efficiency by allowing the stopped engine to be restarted quickly with small vibrations. The Auto Start/Stop function can now turn off the engine while the driver brakes to stop when the speed drops below 15 km/h.

Chassis and suspension

The body of the new 2021 4 series coupe is made of hot-stamped steel, multi-phase steels and aluminum alloys that help reduce weight while providing the strongest possible platform that allows the suspension to work to the fullest. Added additional reinforcement to connect the front shock absorbers with the bulkhead and front, as well as with the rear axle area, so the new 4 series will help ensure better agility and accuracy.

The front of the car uses extruded aluminium side panels and pressed aluminum shock absorbers. The hood, front fenders and doors are now made of aluminum.

The very rigid passenger cell and specially designed supporting structures provide an excellent structure for active and passive safety systems that work together to protect passengers. The new 4 Series coupe is also equipped with an active hood system to improve pedestrian protection. This function uses pyrotechnic drives to lift the bonnet when the vehicle collides with a pedestrian by creating a larger deformation space between the hood and the hard structures below.

The stiffer body, wider rear track and centre of gravity, which is 23 mm lower than the 3 Series sedan, play an important role in the fact that the front double spring and the front suspension shock and rear five-pound rear suspension provide significantly more sharper control than the outgoing 4 series.

Shock absorbers related to the lift are able to provide both sporty handling and driving comfort. Shock absorbers reduce body movement and eliminate vibrations on the road by constantly adjusting the progressive damping force based on the changing spring stroke. Excessive pressure and rebound forces are better controlled so that the new 4 series does not become restless not only when riding rough surfaces, but also when riding with power.

The stroke-related shock system provides front shock absorbers with additional hydraulic damping and extra compression limiting the rear shock. At the front, vibrations are reduced by another element that falls into the inner cover of the shock absorber. Only under a higher load the entire silencer is activated. Various wall thicknesses of front shock absorbers, tubular anti-roll rods and lightweight control arms work together to reduce unsprung weight and improve suspension response.

Increased shock damping forces, firmer springs and anti-roll bars give the new BMW 4 Series Coupé a more sporty character. The standard M Sport suspension features a firmer spring adjustment, stiffer brackets and holders, stronger anti-roll bars and greater negative wheel deflection.

Optional adaptive suspension M

The optional Adaptive Suspension M combines all the best M Sport suspension features with electronic shock absorbers and offers a wide range of settings from sport to comfort. Continuously adjustable valves allow individual adjustment of the damping force for each wheel. Switching between different driving experience control modes brings distinctly different differences in damping characteristics – from balanced comfort of long-distance comfort to sport-activated high-dynamic adjustment.

Adaptive settings allow automatic steering adjustment, damping, accelerator pedal response and Sport Steptronic shifting characteristics according to driving style. The control system responds to accelerator inputs and controls to switch the drivetrain and suspension to a sportier or more comfortable response. Map data supplied by the standard navigation system can also be used to predict upcoming turnovers.

Manage

Electric power steering with servotronic speed control is the standard for the new 4 series coupe .

The standard Variable Sport control adapts to changes in steering angles and maximizes cornering agility and comfort at low speeds. Direct and accurate steering responses increase speed, while the wheel angles required for parking manoeuvres are achieved by only a few steering wheel turns.

Wheels, tyres and brakes

All 430i xDrive Coupé wheels are equipped with standard 18 x 7.5-inch alloy wheels with all-season tires. Optional for all models are 19 x 8.0-inch alloy wheels with 225/40R19 full-season wheels or 225/40R19 alloy wheels and 255 x 5-inch alloy wheels with powerful 255/35 R19 tyres. As standard, the M440i xDrive Coupé comes with 19 x 8.0-inch front alloy wheels with 225/40R19 alloy wheels and 19 x 8.5 inch alloy wheels and powerful 255/35R19 non-solid tyres.

The standard brakes on the 430i xDrive Coupé are fans with single-piston floating calipers, front and rear. The M440i xDrive Coupé features M Sport reflectors with blue calipers with ventilation discs with four-piston front fixed and single-piston floating rear calipers. M Sport brakes with red calipers are optional on the M440i xDrive Coupé. The 430i xDrive Coupé offers a selection of optional M Sport brakes with blue or red calipers. The M Sport brakes provide excellent thermal resistance with a short lift pedal for a more sporty ride.

Advanced driver assistance systems

The BMW 4 2021 Series is equipped with standard assistance designed to provide peace of mind and better driving comfort. Included systems include lane departure warning with steering correction – for you in the lane, frontal collisions and pedestrian warnings with braking function – which allow you to respond to vehicles, stationary objects, cyclists and pedestrians, blind spot detection, vehicle crossing warning at crossing, rear collision preparation, automatic steering and speed limit information.

Optionally on the new 4 series is the Driving Assistant Professional, which adds active cruise control with Stop & Go, Extended Traffic Jam Assist for restricted access highways – a Level 2 autonomous assistance system that helps reduce stop and stop fatigue on the highway by allowing the vehicle to work with extended hands, lane keeping assistant with side collision protection, escape assistance, front cross-traffic alert and emergency stop assistance – which can help lead your BMW to the shoulder and stop it in an emergency situation.

The optional Parking Assistant Plus includes panoramic views and 3D views of the surround camera to help you with parking. The system helps to identify suitable parallel and perpendicular parking spaces and can lead a series of 4 to and from the chosen driver’s seat. The connected helper records the last 50 meters of speeds below 35 km /h and can automatically rotate series 4 along the exact path to help, for example, navigate narrow or winding driveways.

The remote 3D view feature gives drivers the ability to recall a three-dimensional live image of their parked vehicle and its immediate proximity on their smartphone. The drive recorder, a new feature of the BMW 4 Series, uses cameras from various driver assistance systems to record video from different locations around the vehicle, before storing the recordings so that they can be tracked later on the control display when the car is at rest, or exported via a USB port. In the event of a collision, the time of up to 20 seconds is automatically recorded and stored around the moment of impact.

Bmw Smart Personal Assistant

The new BMW 4 2021 Coupé series also offers the latest version of BMW’s intelligent personal assistant to help you interact with your car in a more natural way. This digital companion, activated by a spoken challenge, such as “Hey BMW”, or at the touch of a button, learns to communicate to provide better and more accurate answers. The smart personal assistant now recognizes who is talking – driver or passenger – and can respond accordingly, for example, by changing the temperature setting only on one side of the cab.

Naturally spoken instructions can now also be used to open and close the car’s windows (partially or completely) or adjust the air conditioning. In addition, the driver can set the rules according to which BMW SMART PERSONAL ASSISTANT learns routines that increase comfort in specific situations. For example, the driver’s window can be automatically opened when the vehicle reaches the selected location specified by the GPS coordinate, such as the entrance to the garage.

Standard iDrive 7 with navigation and new BMW maps

The standard for the new BMW 4 Series Coupé is the iDrive 7 with intuitive control, individually configurable content and seamless driver-vehicle interaction. Up to 10 pages can be customized with two to four content tiles. Ways to interact with the new 4 Series coupe include a touch center control display, an iDrive controller, multifunctional steering wheel buttons, and voice control.

Standard displays on the 430i xDrive are 8.8 inch medium touchscreen and 5.1 inch color display between instrument meters. Choosing the optional Professional live cockpit enhances the displays to a 10.25-inch mid-touch screen and a fully digital 12.3-inch screen with the device. Live Cockpit Professional is standard for 440i xDrive Coupé.

Standard navigation has also been improved with a new digital cloud feature called BMW Maps. The advantage is faster route calculations and dynamic recalculation based on accurate traffic data in real time. The route is processed using a predictive approach, which means that the upcoming traffic along the entire route is counted in the calculation of the expected arrival time. Complete traffic data is now also available for smaller roads. The danger warnings transmitted online from the BMW fleet will now get to the car even faster thanks to the connected navigation. These improvements help to create a very accurate estimate of arrival time and better route guidance. The target input feature has also been improved and now allows the driver to enter any word. Alternatively, you can specify a destination at any time simply using voice control. In addition, points of interest on the route are described in more detail with reviews, opening hours and photos.

When choosing the optional Professional live cockpit, the navigation system is enhanced with 3D visualization of the surrounding environment, which displays all cars, trucks and motorcycles registered by cameras and sensors in the current driver lane, as well as in adjacent lanes. They appear in the central part of the device display. Vehicles at a critical distance are highlighted. Graphics indicate maneuvers that assistance systems can perform. The driver always has an overview of the situation and the relevant procedures. If route guidance is enabled, the screen also displays a panel with navigation instructions above the 3D view.

Apple CarPlay and Android automatic compatibility

The new BMW 2021 Series 4 Coupé offers standard apple carplay wireless and automatic Android compatibility. This advantage, which Apple iPhone owners already have, is now available to Android users, making it easier to access a large number of digital services from a car in the same way as on their smartphone.
