We have not yet moved any new Escape (there are four variants), but will update this page with a full driving impression when we do so. Ford has given all the interesting details about what to expect, so keep reading to accelerate on Escape 2020.
What’s new for the 2020 years?
Escape through the redesign of the clean bed linen for the year 2020. The goal as a concise crossover did not change, but Ford decided to shake everything from the perspective of style and powertrain. All the dimensions are more profitable for the dynamics of utilities and driving – longer, lower, and wider – but Ford still wants to keep the light off-road roughness intact.
Escape Hybrid is once again available, but this time, it also joins the plug-in Hybrid. Ford targets about 30 miles of pure electricity range with plug-ins. Two other engine options are equipped with turbocharged gases, as well as updates for the year 2020.
What kind of interior technology and car Escape?
Ford transformed the interior Escape for a redesign of this 2020, and greatly resembles the new Ford Focus 2019 being sold in other global markets (based on the same platform with Escape). The features of the Explorer 2020 can also be found throughout the cab such as the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, the swivel gear selector, and the same drive mode controller. Ford used a version of Sync 3 that had been kneined for a car infotainment system.
How big is new Escape?
The 2020 Escape is getting bigger, measuring a total length of 180.5 inches. This Slot is right in the middle of the competition in terms of all-out size, but Escape has some tricks to maximize the interior space.
The second sliding row seat brings a surprising footroom to 40.7 inches when moved backward. This allows Escape to claim the second best-in-class legroom line for non-hybrid models, with only the Honda CR-V in the distance spitting. The payload capacity is 37.5 cubic feet solid for non-hybrid Escape (34.4 cu-ft on the hybrid model). With the second line folded down, Ford said the maximum capacity increased to 65.4 cu-ft. There are no best-in-class cargo figures, but it puts Escape among the leaders in this fight. Ford lost a little here because of styling of a more rounded back compared to CR-V and Forester.
What is Escape performance and fuel economy?
Ford offers 2020 Escape with four powertrain options. The base engine is a 1.5 litre three-cylinder turbocharged that generates 180 horsepower and a torque of 177 pound-feet. Yes, only three cylinders, and for the first time in a Ford machine, there is a cylinder deactivation, so that it can actually operate as two cylinders. You can also upgrade to a four-liter 2.0-litre turbo which increases the maximum output to 250 horsepower and a 275-pound-foot torque on a 93 octane fuel, giving the time 0-60 mph 7.4 seconds.
Then there are two hybrid powertrains that both use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder running on a more efficient Atkinson cycle to increase electrical power. The normal Ford Escape Hybrid of 2020 resulted in 198 horsepower and a 153-pound-foot torque, while the Escape Plug-In increased it to 209 horsepower and the same amount of torque. Ford claimed that Escape Plug-In will operate about 30 miles at full cost, but the EPA estimate range is not yet available. There is also no fuel economy number for the new Escape available today.
